It is indisputable that Pierre Sadek’s body of work accompanied the history of Lebanon from 1958 to 2013, to the extent that the country’s modern history has been documented through his caricatures.
Often described as engaged art, Pierre Sadek’s works are imbued with his values and principles, at the heart of which Lebanon itself stood as his primary mission. Transmitting to emerging generations his vision, critical spirit, and sense of optimism, as reflected in his drawings, is a responsibility that the Pierre Sadek Foundation has undertaken, with the aim of encouraging young talents to express themselves and to develop their skills as artists and caricaturists.
“La Plume de Pierre” is an annual award dedicated to press cartooning by young talents. This cultural and artistic event is organized by the Pierre Sadek Foundation in partnership with the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts–University of Balamand and the École Supérieure Estienne–Paris.
The competition is open to art students from all disciplines at the following universities: ALBA–Balamand, AUB, LAU, USEK, UL, AUST, UA, BAU, and AKU.
The jury is composed of artists, journalists, and representatives of the Foundation.
