The Pierre Sadek Award for editorial cartoons

Pierre Sadek is a Lebanese caricaturist. His editorial drawings have appeared in print and televisual media for over five decades (1958-2013) and have offered a rich commentary on local, regional and international socio-political history. His immense oeuvre of 30.000 drawings is a unique document on the troubled history of the second half of the 20th century and the dawn of the new millennia.
An indefatigable critic, his work constitutes an alternative history of Lebanon and the region whose relevance continues to inspire young and old.
To safeguard this caricaturist’s legacy, the Pierre Sadek Foundation, with the collaboration of the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts – ALBA and the participation of École Superieure Estienne (Paris), announces the launching of La Plume de Pierre; an annual award for new editorial drawings/caricatures open to students of art and design in all Lebanese universities.
